I wish I would’ve had time to finish/publish this post when I started it, but oh well. Better late than never I guess.
Sigh…what a crazy couple of weeks it’s been…yes I’m referring to Google’s scare tactics on paid linking and link networks. To be honest, I’m still trying to make sense of it all. It definitely left me scratching my head about some of the sites that were affected, including a few of my own.

For about the past year, I’ve been supplementing my income by purchasing (and in some cases creating) sites for the sole purpose of later repackaging and selling at a higher price. I’ve also gotten WAY more serious lately about domaining, or SEOmaining as it’s been coined, which is a much more accurate description. I’ll save that for a future post strictly about my experiences so far with domaining.

You may have noticed that I removed a recent post that put a “SEO company” that had been spamming me on blast, but I’m trying to reduce the number of negative posts here. To be 100% honest, the emails I receive from scam/misinformed SEO firms are getting too frequent to address, which is unfortunate.
Instead let me take a minute to express my annoyance with yet another example of the hypocrisy that we face daily from Google. The “do as we say, not as we do” examples are piling up and getting really old. Guidelines should apply to both search engine and webmaster alike, or not at all.

I’ll be attending the SEOmoz training seminar on October 1st, and I’m actually making a vacation out of the trip. After sightseeing in Seattle we’re heading up to Canada. I’ve been to Victoria, BC twice and will be making my third trip there a few days after the seminar.

I love WordPress. What’s not to love? I wanted to upgrade the backend of this site, and was able to within just a few minutes.
Yesterday I wanted to change the look and feel of this blog pretty badly, so I quickly created a new custom and easy to customize theme. Once uploaded, I spent maybe 5 minutes editing a few PHP and CSS files, and I’m done. You gotta love that.
